The Taula table collection was inspired by the imposing monolithic structures of the same name found on the Mediterranean islands of Menorca and Mallorca. Designer Patricia Urquiola has reinterpreted their age-old power and mysticism with a series of innovative dining tables that extol the tactile sensations of natural stone.
The soft sinuous shapes of marble and limestone combine with an original metal support system that creates a spinning top that seems to float above your feet. This optical illusion the result of our team’s careful study of shape and perspective challenges our usual perception of stone as a hard heavy material making it appear unexpectedly light.
